Yoga Therapy Services Provided

Intake

During this first step in your journey, we sit down together and discuss your goals, any diagnoses, symptoms, lifestyle, and other medical care. For physical conditions, this may include muscles testing to pinpoint specific weakness.  Between intake and your next session the behind the scenes work commences, developing programming for you and working out a schedule to meet the needs of your condition and lifestyle.

Autonomy

Yoga therapy is a complementary healing modality like acupuncture or Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is the application of yoga techniques to chronic health conditions. These yoga techniques might include postures, breathwork, meditation, chanting, and/or philosophy.

Yoga therapy is not work that is “done to you,” like massage or chiropractic. These are techniques you learn to be able to practice on your own. You are empowered with tools to help restore balance to your own system without needing to rely on someone else to do it for you.

Individualized Programming

In yoga therapy, the practices are designed to address your specific health condition. You benefit from a targeted approach. Yoga therapists are trained in contraindications, so they are equipped to keep you safe in your yoga practice.

Yoga therapists do not cure, diagnose, or treat any specific disease. They work with you and your medical professionals to determine what practices may be most helpful for you.

A typical yoga therapy session includes practicing yoga. It also includes time for discussion where you can ask questions and give feedback regarding what you feel is working and what is not working, so that the practice can be modified if necessary. In between sessions, you’ll practice from home. Depending on your condition and your schedule, you might practice every day or a few times per week. You are supplied with audio and video recordings for your reference.

I offer yoga therapy and private yoga, specializing in low back pain and autoimmune conditions. I help people use yoga to manage their chronic health conditions. I’ve been practicing yoga for over 15 years, and teaching yoga for the past 5 years. I’m passionate about using yoga to help people restore balance to their lives and tap into their full potential.

My intention as a yoga therapist is to provide individual guidance and a customized yoga practice using the tools yoga offers in ways that will be best for you. I account for injuries, current and past health issues, and above all your goals for the yoga practice and for your life. The result is a completely individualized practice that invites balance throughout your whole being.
